what's new at St Basillisa's?
St B's is aware of the need to try to provide new sources of information that may be of benefit to the health professional interested in palliative care. Any additions or changes to the site will be notified here.
when was it new?
August 26 2007 St B's has been struggling to keep up its NCBI search updates and has decide to discontinue these. If we have inconvenienced anybody we apologise. The truth is, however, that it is much better done by individuals. You can get some assistance with this here. St B's is relocating to New Zealand and the activity involved in this has been taking up a lot of time. Later in the year we hope to return with some different content. You can only get so much fun out of searching PubMed. If you would like to send any comments please use the link at the bottom of the page.
August 16 2007 St B's has built a 400 character, scrollable "PubMed" search box (see July 27 2007). Now that page has been configured so that you can save it to your own machine and use it to build long "PubMed" search terms where the complete text is visible. By saving this page to your own machine you will not have to visit St B's to work on your long search terms. Instructions for saving the page are included. It looks quite different to the usual St B pages. Have a look at the page here.
August 5 2007

"all of pubmed" searches now has options for 7 and 14 days in addition to 30, 60 and 90 days.

On the same page, you can now search for "Reviews" and "Practice guidelines" based on the "expanded" general palliative care search term.

July 27 2007 St B's is pretty excited about this. We believe we have the world's biggest PubMed search box; built for power searchers just like you. We would love you to take a look. You can find it under the "other resources" menu.
July 19 2007 Palliative Care Matters logo This logo has appeared. It belongs to "Palliative Care Matters" an excellent site based in the UK. Have a look.
July 19 2007 A lot of things broke following the June 28 "upgrade". We hope they have been fixed.

St B's has expanded its general palliative care search term as a result of some excellent work done by the CareSearch team. The new "search term" is explained here and we have posted our first set of search updates using the new term. For the time being we are going to keep on posting updates using the original term and will continue to encourage visitors to set up their own searches. Our explanation of how to use the search results has been expanded... a bit!

July 8 2007 An update to the Cherny database in "EndNote refer" format has been posted. This contains only the citations added since the last update to Part 3 late in 2006 making it a much smaller download.
June 28 2007 Our new look has been posted.
April 12 2007 St B's is aware that its "regular" search updates are not as regular as they should be; they are happening every week but not on a by the clock basis. If you would like St B's to let you know when new material has been added, email us using the link at the foot of the page. We will also let you know when other significant changes are made or different material added. "Update please" in the subject line will be adequate and any other feedback appreciated.
Feb 13 2007 "all of PubMed" palliative care searches returned weekly by NCBI will now be made available in "EndNote - refer" format. EndNote 4 recognises the files as does Bibus, an open source bibliographic database manager. St B's will continue to look for no-cost software options for managing references.
Feb 1 2007 Nathan Cherny's "Shaare Zedec Pain and Palliative Care Reference Database" is now available at St B's in a more widely accessible format - "EndNote - refer". References can now be imported into bibliographic database managers which recognise the "refer" format, apart from "EndNote" itself. These include free "open source" programmes. The database available at St B's is current up to the Shaare Zedek, October 2006 update release.
Jan 17 2007 Links to home pages of palliative care specific journals added.
Jan 14 2007 St Basillisa's obtained accreditation at/by HONcode. Details are on the home page.
Jan 12 2007 St B's has been collecting weekly NCBI searches in palliative care specific journals, general medical journals and "all of PubMed" since September 2006. These have been posted here and will be updated periodically, as we receive them.
